Während BMP das Standard-Bildformat bei Windows-Rechnern ist, ist dies bei Apple-Rechnern das PICT-Format. Allerdings verliert das PICT-Format genauso wie das BMP-Format immer mehr an Bedeutung, da sich betriebssystemunabhängige Formate wie TIF oder JPG immer mehr durchsetzen.
